Japan Benefit Concert
The Tohoku Earthquake and tsunami
A message of support
The concerts have helped all of us to remember the Japanese people and bring peoples of different cultures a little closer together on the planet we share. This was beautifully shown in Bella Gaia. Please leave your message by using the comments button below. We have asked Kenji for help to take these messages to Japan and will be forging connections with schools and community groups there.Note of thanks: sponsors and support
Putting together concerts like these in around six weeks is an enormous task. We have many to thank.
RTHK interview
Kenji Williams the creator of Bella Gaia, George Woodman, Director of Teng Hoi Conservation Organization and Calvin Lee Kwan, Project Manager for the Institute for the Environment at HKUST were interviewed by Phil Whelan for his Morning Brew. Click here to listen.Japan, Carbon and Nuclear link
The tsunami was the cause of Japan's nuclear crisis, but there is also a connection to Carbon Literacy. Whilst a simple anti-nuclear stance is now easier to justify, we advocate that a more complete understanding of the impacts on climate change, air quality and human health and welfare is necessary for the debate about nuclear power and the traditional coal-fired alternative. The mining of coal is a dangerous activity that costs many lives and the resulting smog affects the lives and health of millions of people in souther China.
I wrote this article after discussions with Tim Gilkison of the InHouse Community. It first appeared in ASIAN-MENA COUNSEL, magazine for the In-House Community of counsel along the New Silk Road (www.inhousecommunity.com).
The sound of the earthquake underwater
Teng Hoi Conservation Organization specializes in the detection of the sounds of explosions underwater from fish bombs (see here). Our technology can also listen out for the sounds of earthquakes.

How did the concerts come about
What's the connection between a local Chinese school in the New Territories town of Sai Kung, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Bella Gaia?
