Japan, Carbon and Nuclear link

asian_mena_counselThe tsunami was the cause of Japan's nuclear crisis, but there is also a connection to Carbon Literacy.  Whilst a simple anti-nuclear stance is now easier to justify, we advocate that a more complete understanding of the impacts on climate change, air quality and human health and welfare is necessary for the debate about nuclear power and the traditional coal-fired alternative.  The mining of coal is a dangerous activity that costs many lives and the resulting smog affects the lives and health of millions of people in souther China.

I wrote this article after discussions with Tim Gilkison of the InHouse Community.  It first appeared in ASIAN-MENA COUNSEL, magazine for the In-House Community of counsel along the New Silk Road (www.inhousecommunity.com).
